-- The governor (or a minion)
-- The high and mighty chair of the Judiciary Commitee, in this case Ashford himself (or a minion)
-- The attorney general (or a minion)
-- The superintendent of law enforcement (or a minion)
-- A law enforcement officer of a metropolitan city, as chosen by the governor (Omaha and Lincoln street cop)
-- Another law enforcement officer from all the other cities, as designated by the governor.
-- A gun seller, as chosen by the governor.
Act now, Freedom Fiends, or these seven people may be deciding what's legal and illegal in your gun safe every two years.

I'm retired with a portable income, so Ashford's gun control bill, if it passes and is signed into law, will provide the last push I need finally to shove me out of this nanny state. Yankton, South Dakota is looking appealing, or maybe Seward, Alaska. You're from SD, right?

Last I heard, there was a techincal movement (think Chambers' shenanigans) to get the campus carry bill resurrected.
Keep in mind, even if it fails, there's no law in S.D. against it, just school policy.
$10 and a clear background check will get you a CCW back home.
The bad thing about S.D. is that all the good hunting turf is now monopolized by the owners for big spending, big city, East Coast types to fly in and hunt on.
Thanks! My parents live here in Lincoln, and Yankton is only 4-5 hours by car. I like little towns, and my bank has two branches there, which would simplify the move (no need to change banks, just change branches). I like the fact that once you apply for a pistol permit, assuming you meet their minimums, you get a temp permit in 5 days.

My local shootin buddies and I have seen this coming along way off and expect it to die a slow and agonizing (expensive) death. I'm not giving Sen Ashford any slack, though. The Omaha City Council, most notably Councilman Vokal will back him along with the rest of the Mommy Knows Best crowd, so watching the Omaha City Council should show how much time it will take leave the inquiry phase and go right to the "whos on our side phase".
I will be watching the published minutes from the Unicam every week as well. Its along way of, but that's how they work, slow and sneeky. Phil from Random Nuclear Strikes has some experience in these matter as well. His back posts about Bills going through WA State give some good insight into how long and painful a process this can be.
