Random notes from a wandering mind...
QUICK, CALL THE ATF: The ATF asks that we report any felons who are using firearms. Tom Gresham points out that not only is there a felon flaunting his firearm use, but we’ve tried to give him awards for how well he wields one.
IT’S GOOD TO BE THE KING (or a SENATOR): Lost in the hubbub of the senator’s aide arrested while carrying the senator’s gun is the fact that, being in D.C., if an average citizen was caught with an unregistered gun, it’d be jail time. As a lawmaker (or his aide) eh, not so much.
THIS WHOLE DAMN COURT IS OUT OF ORDER: OK, maybe the court is all right, but where’s the outrage against swords in the Christopher Edwards trial? Why isn’t there a massive effort decrying the evil black sword that prosecutors say killed Jessica O’Grady? Oh, that’s right, it’s an inanimate object. It didn’t do anything, it was the person wielding the blade that is to blame. Hypocritical bastards.
GIULIANI NOT FOOLINIANI ANYONE: Now Rudy G. decides to cater to the gun crowd? Sorry, ass hat, too late. I don’t care if you’r “America’s Mayor” or not. Rudy once declared that 80% of firearms made were unnecessary and therefore obviously intended for the black market. Can’t the GOP do better than this walking comb over?
LB491 UPDATE: Senate priority bills are still in the mix, and the King Cobra is getting his schwerve on so the session is beginning to slow down. The return of the smoking ban (LB395) will only help keep Sen. Harms trash bill off the floor. Don’t get complacent, Freedom Fiends, let your senator (or a bunch of them) know that this bill is garbage.
ATTITUDES ARE THE PROBLEM: As I’ve stated before, the biggest problem gun owners face is one of image. The antis have successfully implanted the idea in the majority’s head that “Guns R Evil” and “Gun Nuts Are Psycho Hillbillies.” So, please keep that in mind when you encounter one of the Mindless Masses. Much as we need to have patience with the mentally challenged, we must tread slowly and softly with these people. All they know about guns are what the pretty-haired person on the TV told them. It us up to each and everyone of us to be the best ambassador possible. If you come across as a paranoid, Rambo-wannabe, then all of us bear that tag. Make your case passionately, but rationally. In the end, that’s how we’ll all win.
WELCOME: Crabby greetings to our visitors from the Principled Discovery blog. We here at The Shack appreciate the kind words from Dana, who is living proof that you can be fairly XXXXXXX and still rational about the way life works. Be sure to pop over there and check out her 2nd Carnival of Principled Government. A little home-schooling goes a long ways.
EDITED: Apparently my quick review was wildly inaccurate as to Dana's political leanings. The error lies solely with me, and no insult was intended. I do, however, stand by the sentiment that a little bit of homeschooling goes a hell of a lot further than a whole lot of public schooling. Carry on.
PARTING SHOTS: If you have any interest at all in freedom, be it of speech, religion, or firearms, it is critical that you become active in defending those rights. For the past 80 years, those in power have been actively making strides to take freedom away from We the People. It Stops Now.
You don’t have to march down to the capitol and picket. You don’t need to send me any money. You don’t need to dedicate hours of your life.
You just need to act.
Write a lawmaker. Write a letter to the editor. Attend a hearing. When you see abuse, point it out. Do not stand for it.
Pick your freedom and defend it. We are all in this together. If we allow one right to be quashed, then the door is opened for the rest. Now is not the time for bickering amongst ourselves. Stand fast, Freedom Fiends. Stand fast.

Liberal? Whatever you are on may not be safe to be on while operating a loaded gun...( :
You're funny...and no insult was taken. I can still leave the original in my sidebar, can't I?
Dana, my dear, if there is one I don't mind it's letting the world see my foolishness. Feel free to leave my original statement up as long as you desire.
Yeah!
I like the idea of quotes in my sidebar, but I think if I put up the nice things people have said about me, it would go to my head. And those who have said "other" things about me seem to also have a taste for things I'd rather not link to.
So now I have something to make me smile. : )
And your link is finally in my sidebar after weeks of not getting around to it.
